B is for Beach ... plus some splatter cards...

My blogger friend Jo is one of the  Designers over at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.... and when I saw her card for this week's challenge (B for Beach)it took my fancy as I knew I had to perfect digi stamp to use.

My digi image and it's corresponding sentiment are from Bugaboo.  I combined the two onto one panel.  I coloured using Copic markers - so very basic colouring.  I made the PP that I used for my base layer.  I saw a technique over at Splitcoaststampers - to used waterbase inks - Altenew Warm Sunshine, Paper Bag and Distress ink  Fossilised Amber- spritz of water and a credit card!  I think that it makes a beautiful sandy looking background.   I added three drops of gold liquid pearls to finish off.

Plus I have two cards I made on Sunday for the Hero Arts Flickr Group challenge.  My friend Kim in Western Australia, challenged us to use splatters on our projects.  I did two sessions... each about 50-55 mins

My first card used Hero Arts Brush Stroke  stamp set which has a few splatter stamps.  I used Neon inks.  The sentiment is the die from the Hello Stamp and die set with a sentiment from the set.

And my second card is more elegant...

I stamped the Antique Rose stamp onto some watercolour paper and used some Derwent Inktense pencils to colour.  I then used some gold ink, green and red inks to splatter drops over my card.  I then used a big sentiment stamp to finish off.

Calling All Sistahs - May Challenge

I saw this new challenge blog and love the idea of making an encouragement card.  The inspiration photo is so pretty

The colours are so beautiful and that was what inspired me.

I started by white embossing the Simon Says Stamp background stamp and then used Altenew Crisp inks in Desert Night, Ocean Waves, Lavender Fields and Sea Class to sponge.  The sentiment is embossed with Ranger Liquid Platinum powder onto vellum and die cut with a Simon Says Stamp stitched circle die.  I added some gold thread behind it.

The idea behind this new challenge blog is awesome... you can read all about it Here

It's Cake O'Clock...

I'm over at Die Cut Divas today to share one more card using as stamp from Jane's Doodles Cake stamp set.

I used a new die cut - a cake one, that I picked up for $1 at my local magazine shop.  I die cut from dusty pink and silvery grey card and put some water colour behind the cake.   It sentiment is from the Jane's Doodles set.

Smack Down Starburst.

Over at Splitcoaststampers this week, the Monday Technique challenge called Smack Down.
Here is the technique described by Sabrina
"This is what the technique involves:
Ink your chosen stamp in a light colour. Stamp on the paper, and then continue stamping all round it, as if you were stamping off prior to cleaning your stamp.
When there's no ink left, ink the stamp and repeat the process. Cover as much of the card as you like. The repeated stamping fills up the card quite quickly.
Switch up to a different colour - if it's very dark, you may need to stamp it off once on scratch paper. Repeat the process. The repeated stamping fills up the card quite quickly."

I didn't use two colours - just the one

I used an older Hero Arts stamp called Sunburst and as I seem to be on a bit of a blue phase... used some Catherine Pooler ink called Fiesta Blue.  I really love the background it produced.  I then die cut a circle and stamped the Sunburst in the middle.  I have some home made 3D dots and the teal one worked well in the middle.  The sentiment is white embossed - it's from a Catherine Pooler set.    A few sequins finished it off perfectly.

Colouring book pages...

I spend the weekend up at Mangawhai and managed to sit outside Saturday morning and do some colouring in.... A new book I picked up for $2 at my local newsagent.  It was a 4"x4" book that had been with a magazine.  Once the magazine was passed it's use by date, they sell of the little gifts and it was such a bargain.

Here's the first finished page

And I did a second one that I turned into a card

I used watercolour pencils from Faber Castell,  Koh-i-nor and Derwent and blended with a Memento blender pen on both pages.

To finish my feathers card I used a Winnie & Walter die cut to cut two hello's - one in pale blue and one in dark blue, layering them together slightly off set.  The friend sentiment is from a Catherine Pooler set and I stamped in black and clear embossed.

Colouring in is so relaxing.   I really enjoyed sitting out in the sun on Saturday until the rain came!

Hello Hello Hello

I'm here to say Hello, Hello, Hello.. - over at A2Z Scrapbooking.. following on with our monthly theme of Focus on the Sentiment.

I was inspired by a couple of different cards on Pinterest.  Took ideas from them and came up with this CAS card.

I used my MISTI to ensure I got a good dark black stamping of my Hello and the rest of the sentiment (from DC151 Hello Stamp & Cut- :  This popular Stamp set is currently Out of Stock at a2z Scrapbooking, however you can CUSTOM Order it in the Store. Just click on the REQUEST CUSTOM ORDER form on the store HOME Page).  I trimmed the panel and added a black mat.  Thanks to MISTI I was able to do some multi colour stamping on the feathers (from CM126 Color Layering Peacock. )  I used colours from the matching ink set. (AF394 Peacock Layering inks)  I fussy cut them and added.

CAS Pink and Yellow

Over the past couple of days I have made a couple of cards for CAS challenges.

The first card was for Addicted to CAS - Pink.

It is a Stampin' Up set called Beautiful You.  I used some Stampin' Up kraft card

And I did a Yellow version

This one has been entered into the CASology Challenge - Cue word WARM.   The lovely yellow colour spells Summer to me - warm weather and sunshine.
EDITED:  was lucky enough to be an Honorable Mention for this yellow card

My intention is to make a few more in different colours to make a set to give to a friend.  I love the Prismacolor pencils on kraft card... it really pops.

Sparkle and Shine

I really had fun taking part in the Online Card Class Sparkle and Shine.  There were heaps of different ways to make your projects Sparkle and Shine.... including using mica powders such as PearlEx and Perfect Pearls.   I have some of each.  With the PearlEx you need to use a fixative (such as cheap hairspray) and with Perfect Pearls the fixative is already in the formula.

My first card uses Perfect Pearls Interference Red on some black card with a Hero Arts Background.

The colour is stunning in real life - changes colours at different angles.    I CASE'd Debby Hughes by white embossing on vellum and used some Perfect Pearls - perfect pearls coloured powder onto the vellum.  I added some leaves and finished with a black die cut that was a freebie.  The little hearts came out of the die cut and were the perfect embellishment.

And the second card used PearlEx Blue Russet on white card.  A very interesting combination

I used the same Hero Arts background to make the central panel.  I used some Altenew Christmas Rose flowers and used the PearlEx powder to do the centres.  I die cut some Sizzix leaves in a pale green.  I added a vellum circle with an embossed Stampin' Up sentiment.  A few sequins and it was all finished.

I can highly recommend this class.

As these cards are full of shiny goodness I have entered the first one into the challenge at Simon Says Stamp

Thanks for stopping by today.

Flowery embossing

I am sharing a birthday card made using this lovely stamp set called Cake by Jane's Doodle who is our sponsor for May at Die Cut Divas.

Jane's Doodles

May challenge theme is:  May Flowers (trees, grass, and plants all count too).

I have used a flowery embossing folder to make my flowers and then used two of the sentiments from the Cake set.   I coloured the embossed flowers with Zig Markers which I blended with Wink of Stella.  I can tell you for real, it sparkles!

I am currently taking the Online Card Class called Sparkle and Shine so I'll be adding this to the Student Gallery.  I've been watching the videos each day, but as I don't have much of the supplies, not too much homework being done.  I did however pull out the PearlEx and Perfect Pearls Mica powders this afternoon following Debby Hughes video.  Working on some backgrounds.

Enjoy your weekend.  It's been a lovely Autumn day - some sunshine and now cooling down.   As I write (about 2 hours before the scheduled post) my taste buds are watering with the smell of a roasting Pork Belly we are having for dinner.  Fennel and Carraway seeds, garlic and salt for the rub on the crackling... hope the finished products lives up to the smells emanating from the oven!

Stenciling homework Day 3 & 4

I enjoyed taking the Altenew Academy Stencil class and today I'm sharing my Day 3 and 4 homework

Day 3 was about using the stencil as a stamp.... ink it up, spritz with water and then stamp it onto your card stock

and Day 4, the class was Stencil Overlay.... Watercolour background and then sponged over the top with the stencil.

I used a variety of pink and purple Altenew inks to make my watercolour piece, and then stenciled over with darker purple inks.  I CASE'd Laurel's sample card to do mine, changing up the colour and the flower and sentiment.  I white embossed the little floral onto the vellum and added colour on the back with Copic markers.

I MUST remember to keep using stencils.  Always makes a great background.

The middle of the week is here, and I'm looking forward to a weekend away at the beach... time to relax and chill out.   Hope you all are looking forward to your weekend too..

Let your sentiment shine with Hero Arts

Time to share another card for the A2Z Scrapbooking challenge.   Our theme this month is "Sentiment Focus"

I want to share a Hybrid card today.... that's a card with some stamping and some digital elements.  A2Zscrapbooking is an official carrier of Hero Arts Digital kits.

The stamping on the background is a very old Hero Arts stamp set.... but never fear, this stamp set is also available as a Digital kit ( Hero Arts Brush and Splatter Kit DK103)  I used a variety of Hero Arts Inks which I will list below.   I then printed the sentiment onto the stamped card.  I used a digital image from Hero Arts Special Birthday Digital Kit DK116.  Use of the digital images is so easy and makes a great impact.

A touch of Pink

Last night I made a card with two challenges in mind....

First I was inspired by the Altenew Inspiration Challenge for May 2017

The waterlily is so pretty in the pinks.

I had made some watercolour paper while taking part in the Altenew Academy Stencil class, one I decided not to use as it was too pink for what I had in mind... but turned out perfect for this.  I stamped the main roses from Beautiful Day set in Ruby Red ink and then the next layer in Coral Berry.  I then took some Prismacolor pencils and added more pinks.  The buds are from Peony Bouquet set, also added to with the pencils.  The leaves are from the Beautiful Day set - some I had sitting in my scrap bowl from a project awhile back.  I added a touch of Bamboo ink stenciling (although my photo looks yellow it's very pretty in real life)   I finished with a sentiment from Beautiful Quotes stamped in Pure Graphite ink.  All the stamps, inks and the stencil are from Altenew.

And I'm adding it to the challenge at Simon Says Stamp....A Hint of Pink.
Plus the Creative With Stamps monthly challenge - Flowers
I have finished all my Altenew Academy homework so will share the last two cards in a day or so.

It's time to share the reveal for the April Card Chain Challenge.  (see it here

I sent my card to Jo in England... a long time blogger friend..

Jo makes amazing cards using Art Impression stamps so I thought I'd send her one.    I used my Prismacolor pencils to colour the card.  I used a Simon Says Stamp stamps and die to add my sentiment.

My partner was Cat from Maryland and this is what she sent me

Cat used the fabric to cut out some of the flowers and added them to adhesive background and added to her card.  And she sent me some spares as well... Just love this fabulous card.

If you haven't taken part in the Card Chain Challenge... I can highly recommend it... You sent a card to someone and get one from someone else.  Still time to sign up for May  - HERE

May Day

Another 1st of the month.  And that  means new challenges.....
Over at A2Z Scrapbooking our challenge to use a sentiment as a focal point.i

I decided to use some older Hero Arts stamps, dies and stencil.  Once again yellow seems to be my colour of choice.   I stencilled the yellow background and then added the large sentiment.  I stamped and die cut the butterflies ND used inks from the Peacock layering inks.

And over at Die Cut Divas we are celebrating spring with Flowers.   we are being sponsored by Jane's Doodles.   Jane kindly gave us some sets to work with.  My set  is called Cake

There are flowers on my  patterned paper and on my cake.   I paper pieced the cake with a  piece of paper I made with left over ink from doing my stencils stamping and then Copic coloured the icing.  The sentiment from the set as well.

So if you get a chance do come and join our challenges
