Online card classes - CAS4 - day 1 homework and a happy accident.

I love taking online card classes.  This latest one is awesome... I only wish I had the time to spend trying out all the lovely techniques.  Day 5 is done and Day 6 is nearly here.  Last night I had a little time to try out one of the techniques. Two toned embossing.

Online card class - day 1 homework.

I used a Hero Art background stamp and stamped it in Versamark ink.  I then masked off the top with a negative spaced heart.  I sprinkled with some dark pink powder.  Once I removed the mask, added Sparkle powder and then heated.  I had received a die cut from Robyn in my latest CCC swap so I black embossed it three times and then added it with a sentiment from Winnie & Walter.  The heart looked a  bit indistinct so went around it with a black gel pen.  Added a few clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh

My second card is my Happy Accident.

Happy Accident

I was attempting to cut out a panel using a plain outer die and an inner intricate die.  I accidentally put the outer die upside down so it embossed rather than cut, and the inner one cut as it should have.  Luckily I had used a patterned piece big enough to use on a card base.  I stamped the Quietfire Designs sentiment and added an embossed and die cut butterfly. I'm very happy with this happy accident.

My first Shaker card.

I take part in a Technique swap with a group of NZ crafters.  February is my turn to chose the theme and I decided on Make a Shaker card.    I chose this as I had never made one before.  At the moment Shaker cards are on trend... everyone seems to be making them.

So here is what I've done.

I'm really happy with the results of my first Shaker... might even try another one some time!

I am entering this into the challenge at Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes

With Love

I had some fun the other night trying out a new Couture Creations die I picked up half price at my local Warehouse store... I used some PP that had golden stars and dots.  The die is called Christmas Lace... but is ideal for anytime.

I added some orange ribbon through the top of the lace.  Added some embossed and water coloured roses (a Kaisercraft stamp) and a white embossed sentiment from Winnie & Walter.

I also this week got some stamps that Suzanne from QuietFire Designs has given the designers on Die Cut Divas to work with for February.  She kindly provided us three sets

I also ordered three more as I really love quotes and sentiments.  So look out for my samples coming up next month at Die Cut Divas...  If you haven't seen her stamps and cut files... I highly recommend you visit the website here

I've had a busy week, celebrating our 37th Wedding Anniversary on We dnesday - dinner out with friends.. and a busy week at work.  This is a long holiday weekend and we drove down to Hamilton (just over 1 1/2 Hrs south) to spend the night with hubby's brother and wife and to see our new great nephew...Lachlan - a tiny little dot of a baby.  He was born 7 weeks early and now at 8 weeks old, he is just over 6lbs.

Got friends arriving shortly for dinner... so no more time to craft till tomorrow,

Thanks for visiting.

Tea Bag box project.

Our latest challenge over at Creative Craft Cottage is " A Gift" and our sponsor is The Cutting Cafe.

The Cutting Cafe

The team got to work with some SVG files - but as I don't have an electronic die cutting machine... the files also come in PDF so you can cut them by hand...

I started by printing the PP on my card stock, turning it over and then printing the PDF on the back.  I cut and glued the box together.   I added a die cut with a Penny Black sentiment.  On top I added a crocheted doily and some Hero Arts flowers and a big pearl centre.    Added my favourite Peppermint Tea and it's all set to go.

Be sure to visit the blog to see what the rest of the team came up with and feel free to enter our challenge with your gift project.

Faux watercolouring

One of the techniques I learn on a recent on line class was a faux water colour look.  Here's my take on this technique

Faux watercolouring with a Penny Black stencil

I used a Penny Black stencil on some linen card stock and used distress ink to sponge on.  I moved the stencil slightly and drew round it with a black pen.  Then I took an aqua brush and added some water.  The sentiment is from Kaisercraft.

This card is for a work friend who is celebrating her birthday on Sunday.  I gave her the card today and she loved it... always a bonus!
I also want to send you over to Die Cut Divas to meet out guest this month... none other than the uber talented Kelly Booth

Cards for my Mum

Over the Christmas/New Year break my Mum celebrated two important dates...

29th December was my parents 58th wedding anniversary

Anniversary card

This card used some lovely PP from a Couture Creations paper pack, some shimmer pink card cut with a die by Susan Wilson and a banner die and sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.

and on 4th January Mum had her birthday....

Time to celebrate

I used the same die to cut the stamped and coloured image.  It is a stamp from Tim Holtz.   I finished with some Peelcraft corners.

Thanks to all my visitors.

New things....

There are a lot of challenges at the moment based around the theme  "NEW"
Recently I won $25 to spend at Ellen Hutson's store (thank you to Virginia Lu)
and while I was away the parcel arrived...

I chose a stencil from Hero Arts (OWH Forest Stencil) one from Penny Black (Verdant) and a Penny Black stamp (Sunny Pair)

I have done two cards so far

New Toys

This one using the Hero Arts stencil.  I used Distress inks with the mini daubers.  I used a sentiment from a Kaisercraft set.  This will be the anniversary card for hubby (our 37th Wedding Anniversary on the 21st of Jan)

Entered into the challenge at A2Z Scrapbooking (New to You) and the challenge at PennyBlack and More - Stencils, Masks, Embossing Folders

My second card is using the Penny Black stamp.

I started a bit backward on this one, but masking around the centre panel and using distress ink and a blender to add the blue.  I then stamped the flower and used Copics to colour.  Think I should have stamped first and then masked the flower and edges... oh well, live and learn!  The sentiment is from a Penny Black set called Sentimental.

This one is going into the "New" Challenge at Penny Black Saturday challenge,  the "Something New" challenge at Simon Says Stamp blog
and the "Clean Slate" challenge at Virginia's View

New Year, New challenge at Creative Craft Cottage.

Welcome to the first challenge for 2015 at Creative Craft Cottage.  We have changed up our dates for the challenge.  It's now on the 7th and 21st of each month...

This month our sponsor is PPinkydolls and our theme is ANYTHING GOES

The team got to work with some of the images from PPinkydolls.

I used this digi stamp and coloured it with Copics.  I went for a pale look with the shot of blue.

Do come over to the blog and join us at Creative Craft Cottage.

With a Joyful Heart.

Tiddly Inks is having a DT call...

http://tiddlyinks.blogspot.co.nz/2014/12/new-design-team-call-entries-due-jan-15.html

I love the pretty images Christy draws.  I thought I'd have a go at the call

I used Bloom Beautifully - Emma digital stamp.  I used the corresponding sentiment from set.  I coloured Emma with Copics and then added the white dots with a white gel pen.  I used a Lil' Inkers die to cut it out.   I chose some PP from a Rosie's Studio pack.  As the corner of the PP had a pretty flower I didn't want to cover so did some creative trimming

I popped the corner under the cut out flower.

Finished off with a flower and button.

Entering this into the DT call over at Tiddly Inks and the Anything Goes at Simon Says Blog.
